Residential Utility Interface

Residential Utility Interface Residential Utility Interface (or RUI) provides an easy way to both communicate with the utilities and manage your customers.

RUI: Main Form

"Programs" are how RUI defines pricing information that is setup with the utility. Each program can be defined with a duration, an expiration date, and a replacement program. The following screen shot shows the form where programs are managed.

RUI also provides a way for you to roll over programs. This is very useful when you have a group of many customers that are enrolled in a particular program and you want to change all of them to a new pricing structure or program. The following screen shot illustrates how simple it is to do this in RUI.

RUI makes use of what we call "service areas". The service areas define regions or zones so that customers can be grouped together by geographic location. These service areas are defined by City, State, and Zip Code. You can also configure a service area to only be for residential or commercial accounts. The following screenshot is one of the Service Areas configuration form.

When processing files from the utility that are generated during the enrollment process, or when attempting to change or drop current customers of yours, problems may arise. For example, the utility may report that the account currently belongs to another marketer, or that the account number is incorrect, or any number of common, and not-so-common, issues. In order for you to be able to handle these cases and resolve them in a timely manner, a report is generated after processing each type of data file. These reports will show you whether or not each account was processed properly and, if not, what went wrong so that it can be addressed immediately.
Below are some sample process reports:

With RUI, you have the ability to save these reports automatically to a central location. Having the reports auto-save not only provides you with the re-assurance that you can go back and review the process information for that file, but it also allows you to have all personnel using RUI to save these reports to a central location.
Below is a screen shot of the configuration form for automatically saving these reports.

RUI currently offers two types of reports. The first is an "Account Status" report. This report takes as an input an Excel spreadsheet that contains at least an account number (and meter number if applicable for the utility). A new spreadsheet is created listing the status of all of the accounts in the spreadsheet provided. This is very useful if you want to verify that a set of imported customers have been enrolled successfully.

The second report is the Usage Report. This report, based on the parameters you specify, will create a spreadsheet with basic customer information along with the usage, or consumption, information for that account. This usage information will have to have been imported by processing the corresponding data file provided by the utility. Click here to view a sample Usage Report.
The following screen shot shows the options that are available for the Usage Report.
